The Courting Dance

by Anthony M   Nov 22, 2009

Open road calls out,
sun shines brightly
through a cloudless sky,
no destination in mind,
no need to ask why.

Autumn wind meets skin
mind empties it's thoughts,
soul becomes free again
body fuses with machine
settling into a calming Zen.

Scenery becomes blurred
engine screams to crescendo,
fallen leaves dance in the wake
twisting the grip ever tighter
as the road coils like a snake.

Speed turns to addiction
adrenalin flows like a torrent,
heart beat is deafening,
senses become razor sharp
and so the love affair begins.

I like the way you have taken the feelings of speed and the open road and combineded them with the love affair. Very unique way of seeing things. Great imagery and word choices. Made this a very enjoyable read.

Courting is like a dance, clumsy steps at first, step on the toes, then as the two lovers begin to know the other, it smooths out and becomes a beautiful dance. Well done.
