The Boldness of Forgetting

by Soulful Ensemble   Nov 24, 2009

I chase the worst emotions
To the corners of my mind
Where they have nowhere to go
And I know that I'll be fine.

I examine hugging lovers
And sense a bit of sadness
I can see they feel trapped
And that freedom is a happiness.

I see a young girl, lonesome
Reading Hamlet in the night
Without a light to see
Or to know its dark.

I wonder what she's doing
Out there in the cold.
I'll realize someday, maybe
But understanding is so bold.

Just as much, its very bold
For me to think I can
Forget everyone that comes
With loving as their plan.

Theres a boldness in forgetting,
And killing everyone you know.
Its so much easier to be sitting
And pretending that you'll grow.
