The girl inside

by LOST   Nov 25, 2009

When I look into that mirror
Who is the girl staring back at me.
I used to know her so well
But know its but a stranger that I see.

She looks frightened and lost
Her cheeks stained with tears.
Its as if no one can see her except me
And only when looking threw these mirrors.

For when we step away
We must compose ourselves for reality.
Put on a mask and a costume
And play the part of sanity.

We meet new people, we say hello
We flash them a much practiced smile.
And continue on without much more
To avoid a conversational trial.

What they dont know wont hurt them
Even if its killing me.
The girl on the outside looks pleasant
But if the girl on the inside is what they could see..

I like this poem. I like how it applies to a lot of people. No matter what anyone says, we're all a little fake. We all have problems. We all try to hide it. And I think you portrayed that very well.
