Comedy Or Tragedy

by Chris   Nov 27, 2009

I lay on a worn mattress with holes at night
In a bed that continues to creak at night
In a room that is too cramped for anyone
In a house that’s too small for a family
In a county with no chance of success
In a state that becomes more expensive each year
In a country that is always at odds with itself
In a continent that is diverse instead of united
In a hemisphere separated from the rest of the world
On a planet that is becoming more overcrowded
In a solar system that only has one habitable planet
And yet even with all these problems that people say
I live in a solar system full of marvels
On a planet that is beautiful and varied
In a hemisphere that stands alone
On a continent with an intriguing past
In a country that is a melting pot of races
In a state that lets me experience the four seasons
In a county that lets me enjoy the calm of nature
In a house that’s never dull
In a room that gives me privacy
In a bed that supports me
On a mattress that holds good memories
Because you can look at things one of two ways
Either life is a tearful tragedy of life
Or it is a joyful and amusing comedy of life
