Suspending the Laws of Nature

by WR104   Nov 28, 2009

I mourn the tangent universe that never happened
A reality that is filled with love and lust
Whenever I sense its somber tremor I'm saddened
The once inflammable dream which now only remains within me is dust

Yet I imagine

I dream of the man that I am not nor ever shall be
And sense the immaterial potential for mutual growth
I am lost to this paradox of gazing into what I should not see
Of the trials and experiences that would ultimately define us both

Still I persist to imagine

Because I'm a struggler that is incapable of escaping my nature
I'm a lonely fire thirsting to be fed by its counterpart
Without reason or hope into inescapable defeat I venture
Fully aware that pity and shame awaited me from the start

But I must dream

Not because I believe that the tangent universe could actually exist
And certainly not because I wish to martyr myself for that abstract notion
I claim only that it is my humanity that forces me to persist
For I'm as unwilling as the random object set about a random motion

So I'm left a hopeless hoper

Perpetually compelled to defy your monumental blunder
The choice I will not understand nor even begin to try
For if this dream must fail it shall do so with lightening and thunder
And by the time left in this tainted heart I swear to you it will never die!
