I'm glad I got to meet you
Out there in the battlefield;
Where wars are lost and won daily--
But still we laughed so gaily.

You made the last year bearable
You made the boring times exciting.
I smile when I see you, always--
And you don't need that in writing.

Don't forget all the fighting
That this war has put us through.
We battled together like thunder and lightning
Against everything that fate threw.

I will miss you, dearly, dear
But its not the war that's over
Only the battle's end is near
And I'm here for you always.

If you call my name or stretch a hand
I'll be there to grasp it, tightly.
My friendship wont fade like sand
