Poetry and the Press

by Michael D Nalley   Dec 5, 2009

I'll tell you all right now more or less
This rhyme is about poetry and the press
A poem to cause contemporary scribes to think
How far we have come from feather and ink

A sharing of feelings is a poets goal
Whether or not it reaches a single soul
Things written on a scroll or in stone
They are sometimes inspired by God alone

So many words have rang true to me
Written before the fifteenth century
Writings copied with great success
Before there was a printing press

Of the accomplishments of mice and men
What could be mightier than the pen
Now in an instant our thoughts may be in print
Preserved for as long as the life of the mint

In cyberspace poems and quotes can survive
Where there is any place for a hard drive
Our hearts, minds, and souls can become unfurled
To be read in just seconds all over the world

I think overall it's a very good poem but the rhyming feels a little forced to me. But other than that I liked it :)

Very inspiring poem! The rhyme was immaculate from start to finish. Also, I loved the flow; perfect. My favorite stanza:

"A sharing of feelings is a poets goal
Whether or not it reaches a single soul
Things written on a scroll or in stone
They are sometimes inspired by God alone"
^^"whether or not it reaches a single soul", truth!.

Overall, I was very satisfied with your write. Amazing. 5/5
