The tones of our skin
The colors of our eyes
Can not change us
In the freedom of our lives
Our gender and our knowledge
Our race and ethnicity
Our opinions and our stories
Can stain us with humility
But it is our pride that gets us through
We all were destined to make it
They may have started the fire
And only by us was it lit
Those who have died
In our honor, or our pride
May we forever remember them
And thank them, in the grave in which they lie
The selfish and the greedy
The egotistic and the unloved
Please let us guide you
And push you higher than above
So let your intentions grow
And let your spirits fly
Then those men and women before us
Will know that their victories
Were never just another lie
