Stand

by Timothy   Dec 12, 2009

You have felt the heat of the explosions,
The tactile sense of the ricochet;
Cries and hollers of pain are commonplace,
It's something you hear every day.

You fight and you claw, bayonet in hand,
Slashing and seething, ripped flesh and gore;
The hate you feel isn't for a foreign enemy,
But your brothers and sisters, in this civil war.

The sun has set, and the war is all that remains,
The future is nigh at hand;
Fight for something you may have forgotten,
And...divided we stand.
