Human Race

by Michael D Nalley   Dec 17, 2009

All of us in the human race
Compete at an ungodly pace
Some will put us in our place
If we fall from heaven's grace

Only the fittest shall survive
Yet no one leaves this world alive
Most know where bodies are bound
Six feet under dirt in the ground

If we fly too high we will get grounded
It's society's way of keeping well rounded
The secret only known in heaven or hell
Is all that is left to be buried is a shell

A very nice poem, with a unique style of writing. I liked the change in the rhyming scheme between the first and second stanzas. The subject is a very popular one... What happens after we die?
You raise some interesting questions as well like: If only the strong survive, does it matter? I'll die like all of us in the end...

The rhyms keep the flow throughout the whole piece, and the words fit to the point in the best way.

A very good work, enjoyed reading it 5/5

I liked this. It was written well and had a good flow. From memory, your poems normally had more emotion than this. But I still like this one :) well done 5/5

Ahh. Beautifully written piece. So true on so many levels. The rhyme was untouchable!

'It's societies way of keeping well rounded'

    ^^'societies' should be 'society's'
