The Brick Wall

by xToBeWithYoux   Dec 18, 2009

Gone.

They shed a few tears,
arranging flowers,
gathering thoughts,
reflecting on their own lives.

She had touched his heart,
seen the joy on his face
when he saw his mother.
Wonder, compassion, emptiness, silence.

Grabbing pieces of his heart,
stumbling into the light of day;
The world never blinked.

Emotion locked away,
forcing himself into love, lust, longing,
no pain allowed to escape,
even in a silent cry, dead of night.

They couldn't understand.

An obstacle loomed:
The brick wall.

Screaming in a language of feeling
that only his fragile heart had felt,
his mind slipped, slowly, slowly...

And in time,
crumbling into a shadow of himself,
he cried the tears of pain
leaking from his mother's casket

Warm arms wrapped around his body,
resurrecting her lingering touch
but failing to soothe his grief,
plunging further into the darkness.

The rejoice of morbid success,
as the wall snatches another victim.

*Tear* This is such a heartbreaking poem. i love love the way it's written. Like a story but still poetic. Wow...I felt like I was there watching this happen. The imagery was that strong. Felt like I was watching a very sad movie or something. Wow..that's all I can really say about this. That's wow amazing this was. I hate that I didn't get a chance to nominate it, it's a winner for sure. More people need to read this one. Very strong. Nik
