ALWAYS BY MY SELF

by Ashley   Dec 21, 2009

EVERYDAY I WAKE UP AND LOOK FOR ANOTHER BRIGHT DAY,
I HOPE THAT I WILL NO LONGER FEEL THIS EMPTINESS INSIDE OF ME,
I HAVE ALL OF MY FRIENDS THERE, BUT IT SEEMS NOT TO GO AWAY,
I CAN BE INCLUDED IN EVERYTHING THAT IS SAID AND DONE,
BUT STILL FEEL LIKE NO ONE UNDERSTANDS ME,
AND TRULY I DO BELIEVE IT,
MANY TIMES I SIT THERE QUIETLY BECAUSE I KNOW I DON'T BELONG,
I AM NOT THE PRETTIEST, SMARTEST, ATHELETICIEST, ND MOST OF ALL LIKE OTHER GIRLS,
I CAN BE AROUND ALL OF YOU AND YOU DON'T NOTICE IM THERE!!
I HATE THIS FEELING AND I WISH IT WOULD GO AWAY,
BECAUSE I TRULY KNOW YOU ARE ALL MY FRIENDS,
but can never relate to what I go through nd who I am.

Nick in his comment used the word "niche".
I would clarify that sentiment with this...your niche will be the life you create FOR YOURSELF. Whether anybody notices us is entirely beside the point. Here's a phrase to build your world on...self-trust! to hell with everyone else that can't get on board WITH YOU on that. Let's make vow not to give a flying turd if we are noticed or not so long as we are making an honest effort to act in accordance with a healthy sense of our own worth.

It can be so difficult to face these feelings each and every day and still believe in yourself. I truly hope you have found your niche and found people who make you feel beautiful and great for being yourself. I know that feeling of being included but still just on the outside all to well, if that's part of what you were expressing. It sucks, and it's definitely something that poetry can help vent out. Good job, and I hope you figure it out and then you can tell me how to find happiness too
