The Stuff That Dreams Are Made Of

by Poet on the Piano   Dec 28, 2009

I am warming my shivering little toes
lying down next to the fire
gossipy people chatter on
as a soothing hum drones them out.
Purple flames leap happily
trying to grab a hold of me
I just smile, knowing in a while
I will see your lovely face
and the fire will burn uselessly.

For your arms always shield
the dreadful winter gust
bringing warmth to clear sight
sweet promises that never rust.
Your tasty lips kiss
the top strands of my hair
putting in love butterflies
just about everywhere.

I imagine you and I
dancing in blushing skies
hopeful comets laughing
as they fall right on by.
Tangerine clouds roll past
inviting us to seek above
we hold hands and ride
through the tunnel of our love.

For your light angel wings
protect me from the cold
and take me on a journey
into the great unknown.
I could spend forever
flying past midnight waves
caught up in their singing
while we explore colored caves.

I want these days to always last
never fading or moving away
I know that life must go on
but I want you to forever stay.
Farewell my beautiful dreamer
I will visit again I'm sure
for now though just remember
you make me feel secure.

    MaryAnne,

This takes me back so many years, to the time when I was a teenager myself...like you, I was a romantic as well and it is so nice to see that romance is still alive!

The images you made me see were so innocent and pure and well..really lovely:)

All your poems make perfect sense, not just some pretty words thrown together to impress, but very mature writing, that reveals the mind of a young, intelligent woman:)
