I'm Dating Myself

by Poetically understood   Jan 4, 2010

I'm dating myself,
I've realized it's true,
He's never around,
What should I do?

He's gone so long,
I forget his face,
But then he returns,
Before he's fully erased.

I once even thought,
That it's possibly me,
I ruled it out when,
I found I was the we.

I guess that I'm not,
As important as wealth,
That theory's what remains,
Because I'm dating myself!

Great write. Even though it was short and simple, it said so much. You did a wonderful job with the rhyme. But I do have one suggestion:

    He's gone so long,
I start to forget his face,
    But then he returns,
    Before he's fully erased

^^ I would do away with 'start to' in the second line. I just believe that the flow would be better that way.

    Overall, amazing job.
