Once upon a time

Once upon a time, there was a boy and a girl,
She didn't like him, she didn't even smile;
The boy was smitten, and held onto his dream,
He hoped she would come around after awhile.

He gave her flowers and candy, everything he knew,
She rejected them, and every advance;
He wondered what would work with this beauty,
Did he ever stand a chance?

Once upon a time, there was a boy and girl,
She didn't like him, she didn't share her laughter;
The boy's attempts dulled with the years,
And unfortunately, this story doesn't have a "happily ever after".
