Man's Best Friend

by Timothy   Jan 7, 2010

I wait for you every day,
When you unlock the door I jump at your leg;
You get annoyed and push me down,
I want your attention, but now I am afraid to beg.

You grumble about your day,
You growl about a project that's not getting an extension;
You throw the groceries on the table,
And yet, I sit at your side, just wanting your attention.

You walk past me a dozen times,
I happened to be in your way, and you nearly fall;
I receive a swift kick to the ribs,
I moved a little, but not too far...because I love you after all.
