The Hardest Job

by Jaime   Jan 7, 2010

Dog walks in, head held high,
Nervous and naive.
His suffering will be soon be gone,
And a family left to grieve.

Hold the vein, look away,
Give a reassuring pat.
He'll think he's drifting off to sleep,
But his heart beat's going flat.

He came in here on four paws,
He'll leave frozen in a bag.
One less dog to hurt tonight,
One more body to tag.

It's probably the hardest job,
To do what's most humane.
And while we hope he lies in peace now,
We'll forever feel his pain.

We die all day long, to live on. While we wait on death, live in peace. Good try.
