Sooner then we knew it

by EmilyAnn   Jan 16, 2010

I remember the good old days
back in elementary school
running up and down the halls
acting like complete fools

talking in class
always getting into trouble
staying at each others house on weekends
making out parents cook double

staying up late
talking about this and that
about how we're growing up so fast
and wishing we could go back

sooner then we knew it
middle school came before us
it really did worry me
because i knew i wouldn't see you as much

changing classes when the bell rang
id pass you in the hall
id always holler over your way through the crowd
saying i would give you a call

sooner then we knew it
summer finally came
and i felt so happy
because closer we became

the sleepless nights
the conversations that never seemed to end
laughing back at stupid things
when we first became friends

sooner then we knew it
out senior year went by
we both broke down
and started to cry

i was happy for you
you were crying for me
you knew everything i wanted in life
and everything i wanted to be

sooner then we knew
we were both smiling
i finally got that guy
that i was talking to for awhile

couple of months down the road
i was getting married
you were my maid of honor
which was kind of scary

i never would have thought
id ever have a friend like you
now I'm so attached now
after everything we have been through

sooner then we knew it
a baby girl i was expecting
i named her after you
you were gladly accepting

you help me out every time
when i need someone there
your always the one who has my back
your the only one who seems to care

you pick me up every single time
when I'm falling down
the one who makes me smile
when all i have is a frown

the one who always brightens my day
when i cant brighten my own
the one i can call times
when I'm feeling alone

and sooner then we knew it
another year had passed
we both smile
knowing it wasn't the last

we sipped on some wine
and did another cheer
laughing so hard
that we made it another year
