Save the Children's Foundation

The earth shakes and our hearts bleed
And we put another brick in the wall
Sometimes that's not all we need
To make a strong foundation for us all

I could never in my dreams finish a poem better than that

What a heartbreaking tragedy. I have been watching all the images from Haiti. The devestation is astounding. Your poem is very touching. I heard there were no building codes that builders had to follow. Knowing how many lives could have been saved if there were guidelines to be followed.

There's innocent children in Haiti
Buried beneath the bricks and rocks
Of poorly built structures wish
We could turn back the clocks

This stanza really breaks my heart. It is always the innocent that pay for the mistakes.
A wonderfully penned piece.

His is a touching write.

This is indeed very sad, but i think rather before the building were poorly built, or not, very little, or no strong building could resist such a hard shock.

"Was there a lesson to be learned
By Towers of Babels burned
Build by what capitalism earned
The value of lives must be discerned."

Well this stanza reminds me of the past, when haiti and dominican republic were the same island. Haiti, the government powers has long turn their back again these suffering nation. Unfortunately, a disaster like this had to happened for they takes these people sufferance into consideration.

"The proof is in the pudding
That was prepared by the elite
No child grows big and strong
Without enough to eat". I like the poetic spins you used in these lines. It left me thinking.

To make a strong foundation for us all." This is my favorite stanza, yet if it should start from here, i think there will be some changes.

This was a very good write, but overall, i think that even if a building were strongly built, it couldn't resist such a shock. If this disaster did happened in europe or the usa, things would be the same, because hardly any building could support a earthquake with such an intensity.

Definately a tragedy and it seems all to familiar for americans who went through hurricane Katrina. I can't imagine the feeling of being completely devastated and hopeless. The sad thing is people don't really care unless its happening to them or people they love. A great poem for sure and I hope soon the world realizes that although we're all differant and most of us on opposite sides of the world, in the end we all really are in the same boat. Excellent job on this heart felt piece deserving of no less than a perfect 5/5
