This was such a beautiful poem but gave the sense of realness at the end. Good things cannot always last and you have shown us that reality here. I enjoyed the innocence you have brought before, I imagined the fireflies so carefree, like little children.

This was a true gem Ingrid, keep it forever in your heart.

God bless you and your family!

must one day die, whether it is humans or
animals..a write that shows what life is all
    about..take care.

It's been awhile since your last post and this was worth the wait. A story told and you are right, all that is born must die. Well done.

Hmm interesting format, & liked how it was written in more of a story - like way . When I first saw the title of your poem it reminded me of Fireflies by Owl City but the content was different.. anyways , a nice job. It brings out a strong message at the end that all good things must come to an end eventually, in general though I think this poem talks about life . nice work.

A wonderfuly written peice. It reminds me so much of how I feel towards winter. You painted a clear picture. I've never seen a firefly before, only on TV, haha. Anyways, great write, 5/5.

Well after a few months on hiatus, you certainly came back with a beautifully crafted piece. I love how you set the tone for this poem. Though you based it on fireflies, but I can feel the passion between them. Your imaginary is superb, I can visualize the whole scene as you unfurl this tragic love story. Well it is certainly true that all that is born must one day die. I guess we need to live for the moment and treasure each passing moments as it passes us by. I truly enjoyed reading it, this poem is worthy of reading more than once.

    Excellent Job

I like poems that are free without the need to rhyme that often times steal away the best words because they don't have the right sound. I only have a small group of poems that rhyme and find them restricted in some ways.

    I liked this especially well;

    As the wind howled
    and made the wind chimes
    sing their eerie song
    two small voices
    gave their final cry
    for all that is born
    must one day die.

I loved this poem!!! I like how you used a simple insect and turned it into a work of art. This poem was written so beautifully, I just loved the whole thing, every single line. :)

  • Beautiful and so very sad. You speak truth in this piece. I absolutely love the powerful ending:

    "for all that is born
    must one day die."

    Brilliant!!

What a sad but lovely poem Ingrid. I did enjoy reading this write.
In my minds eye, I could visualise the two fireflies doing their dance of Love, untimately dying at the end as the seasons changed, and their short lives came to an end. So sad, but put into such descriptive and eloquent wording by yourself.
You truly are a great poet!
