Poetic Discharge

Tell me why it has to be this way,
So hard sometimes just to get through,
Clinging to the love we share,
Holding tight to what we know is true.

Why do we have to be so strong,
Feeling like we're under constant attack,
Forced to endure every single blow,
But never allowed a chance to fight back.

What can we do to make things better,
When they block everything we try,
No empathy in their cold expressions,
No sensible rhyme or reason as to why.

How much longer do we have to take it,
Not understanding why we're kept apart,
I hate being unable to talk to you,
Day by day it breaks my heart.

Tell me how we got stuck in this place,
Where we have absolutely no control,
Just pawns in a game they wish to play,
Puppets to a master without a soul.

Tell me why the world feels dark,
And every day I search for hope anew,
Cause every night it's ripped away,
As I stay up late always waiting for you.

Tell me why it hurts to breathe,
And I can't fall asleep at night,
Without your words to comfort me,
Making everything feel alright.

Tell me when we'll reach a point,
When everything will be okay,
No longer struggling to move forward,
And simply taking it day by day.

Tell me again that you love me,
Cause I desperately need to know,
That you do mean every single word,
And promise that you'll never let me go.

I'm sorry that I'm not always strong,
And I need reminded sometimes too,
I have weak moments and lose hope,
But I swear I love you through and through.

And if you would tell me just one more thing,
Could you mean it with all your might,
Tell me that I'm worth it all,
Then pull me close and hold me tight.
