Shrug Away

by withlove   Jan 27, 2010

It hit my heart when you shrugged me away
my illusion shattering within that one moment
"It doesn't feel right."

It didn't feel right when you forced me to starve just after I had my first taste.

It didn't feel right when you teased me, dangling yourself in front of me, just out of my reach.

It didn't feel right when you met her and pushed me to the side.

It didn't feel right when you broke down and confirmed my worst hopes and fears.

It didn't feel right when I spilled everything and you just left me, a mess on the floor.

And yet, Here I Am.
I haven't shrugged you away.
My shoulder remains where it has always been, beneath your head comforting you, serving as your pillow
but never, never shrugging

This poem really shows the determination of unreciprocated love and the depth that unconditional dedication can reach! Great job!

Is that "y" supposed to be "my" before worst hopes and fears

    Awseome poem though! :)
