The Mountain

by Deana   Jan 28, 2010

Her majesty beckons
Fog lingers and softens her brilliance,
for just a moment...
Then she stands stately, like a queen
Adorned with fire,
Lit by the Gods

Bow before her beauty
For she has stood a thousand years
Cool water runs over her, giving precious life
With the touch of each falling tear

She offers refuge among her children
Some strong, some young and tender still
Find comfort on moss covered pillows
Renewal of a sad and fading will

Climb to heights where eagles soar
and sparrows rush to play
Breathe in the crisp thrill of life
Share her joy, and appreciation
Of one more glorious day!

Wonderful poetry, most of your work reeks of awesomeness to put it bluntly.

    "Her majesty beckons

Then she stands stately, like a queen
    Adorned with fire,
    Lit by the Gods"

Where I live I'm surrounded by mountains and cannot imagine life without them. Your poem is a wonderful hymn to their majesty. I particularly liked the lines "Adorned with fire,
Lit by the Gods". So very true! Smiles.
