A strange winter day

by Jackie Patterson   Feb 5, 2010

The heat of the Sun
Never goes away.
(It thinks we want to constantly play.)

Even in winter
When it should be cold,
Somehow the sun still comes out real bold.

But one shocking day,
The sun hid from sight.
(It really gave us quite a fright.)

The trees were covered
All over their leaves
With ice and snow. (I thought they would heave.)
Every blade of grass
Was covered, also.
(They popped their heads right out of the snow!)

But one somber day,
When we’d had enough,
The sun reappeared and got real rough.

The snow and the ice
All melted away
Never again was ice like that day.
