The Basketball Coach

by Princess JJ   Feb 9, 2010

I was never that good at basketball,
until I joined the basketball team in 2003.
When I walked in the gym on the first night,
I was introduced to my coach.

He was tall, dark hair, very dark skin, and very fit.
During our practise, I wanted to get to know him more,
so while doing layups, I asked him what he does in life.
He told me he enjoys doing alot of sports such as
soccer, basketball, and softball.

On the first night of our game, I was playing against my boyfriend's team (at the time) and I was really nervous.
My coach noticed the look on my face and told me not to think about it and to play my best.
Since that night, he encourages me and my team; because of him, I play much better than I used to.

Later in the summer of 2005, I found out my coach had a heart attack during a softball game.
It was really hard for me because he had a really kind heart and encouraged every player on my team to play our hardest.

While at the funeral, I was sitting there with my teammates and I broke down and cried.
Even though he's gone, he'll always remain on our hearts forever.

Good-bye forever coach, and may you rest in peace.

*dedicated to Marc McDonald for always being there; passed away in July 2005.*
