The Night Court

by Crimsonxheart   Feb 10, 2010

I swam through molten moonlight
my eyes were square on you
and gliding in my direction
your eyes were on me too

We reached the center of the floor
I curtsied, you bowed
and though your smile was ever dazzling
I was never cowed

We danced until the night grew old
beginning light our only warning
that soon our fragile moonlit dance
would give way to the morning

As dawn grew near, I held on tight
I could not hold back a cry
I thought I heard you release one too
as you said, "In the light I'd surely die."

I curtsied to you, turning back
to return to my own world
the loss I felt was torturous
as to the ground my heart was hurled

I drifted through the days
yearning for your kind of sport
Every shadow seemed to call to me
'Return. Return to the Night Court.'

Slowly madness consumed me
the longing all I could feel
Now the dark all that I could see
I wasn't sure what was real

One night as I lay dreaming
Moonlight was streaming into my room
you entered silent, beautiful, deadly
sufficiently sealing my doom

All the life I'd lost had returned to my veins
much to my surprise
I stood and drifted into your arms
once again seduced by your eyes

Murmuring softly you held me in your grasp
we moved slowly faster
and still I could not away
from my dark and beautiful master

Swaying and turning to a hypnotic tune
sweet music I could not hear
Only when I saw no soul in your eyes
is when I started to fear

With feral eyes and a twisted smiled
you leaned down into my hair
"Innocent One, the Night Court is calling
your soul is already there."
