The Morning Sun

The morning sun's bright rays shone through the curtain
and passed through my eyelids.
A wide smile flew across my face
when I turned to see him next to me,
sleeping soundly.
Morning was something I never wanted to see,
the night was better suited for me.

When I was younger,
it took one person to prove to me
that life was full of changes.
He told me there was room to grow.
Before then,
my life had become a standstill.
I floated from place to place without a care,
taking advantage of his feelings.
Not once did I imagine he would be the one to walk.
The flames lit the woods that night.
Once it was burnt, can it burn again?

They all explore my hollow cave,
and no surprise did they see.
This heart had exploded,
it ceased to be.
I secretly wish inside,
he'll always be there;
His faced etched deep into my mind.

But now I lie here in perfect peace;
All my world at ease.
He was right,
I would find the perfect one for me.
I often dreamed in color,
but rarely did I see monochrome.
The color drained right out of me.

We sit on the front porch
and quietly watch the thunderstorm in the distance.
Crashing and cracking,
the thunder rumbles.
It's calm and soothing,
as we sit unmoving.
Words were never necessary.

Everything was right where it needed to be.
The morning sun shined bright on his face,
he turned to me with a smile and said, "good morning."

    i love this part it reminds me of a country song that says "you say it best whenyou say nothing at all" it all comes back to that moment when everythings still and quiet it seems as if the world has stopped just for you and them you wrote this beautifully and the play of colors was interesting which kinda had my head spinning which is a good thing i really enjoyed this poem your very talented Bravo!!

    Wow this was beautiful. I love how you took something so simple as a sunrise or a "good morning" and created such a brillant work of art. I really enjoyed it! yay! the whole part about color and monochrome was my favorite. 5/5

    I definately can relate to this poem a lot and I'm sure many people who have experienced love can also. Its almost as if before the love of your life comes along your dreams are amazing and you can't wait to go to bed, but when you find that special someone your reality becomes better than your dreams and you can't wait to wake up beside them :) Great work excellent flow and imagery 5/5
