Too Late for Us

by Kayla   Feb 13, 2010

I reached for you this morning,
As always, you weren't there.
I pour myself a cup of coffee,
Sometimes life just isn't fair.

A little too used to being alone,
With you forever so far away.
I can't help but wonder at times,
Will we ever meet again someday?

Your cologne has completely faded,
In the jacket you once gave me.
I used to never have a doubt,
That you and I were meant to be.

All the moments of our old reality,
Are now becoming memories of the past.
If only we could go back to those days,
Time for us flew by way too fast.

People say it's never too late,
But I believe it is for us.
Way back with that final goodbye,
Right before you stepped onto that bus.

Aww... I liked this poem... I like how your writing is simple, but effective with portraying your emotions. I like the mention of sweet small things, such as that the cologne faded from his jacket. All very relatable..

    I loved this stanza:
"All the moments of our old reality,
Are now becoming memories of the past.
If only we could go back to those days,
Time for us flew by way too fast."

    Well done :)
