My darling is a pretty thing--
Undescribable in words;
But if I had to try i'd say:
Her beauty's like a rainbow
Enveloped in daffodils.
A garden of yellow flowers
Welcomes her grace,
And her brightened face;
That shines through misery.
The light blue sky
Caresses her with clouds
And calls her name
With a bellow that's loud--
But it leaves no trace.
Her sweetness comes out,
But first it must be earned;
And those who deserve it
Are the happiest on earth.
My darling has a pretty mind
She loves with true intent.
She looks beyond the surface
To find what lies within.
She asks me what I mean
When I call her "carinosa".
I reply that it means darling--
Mi pequena rosa.
She's mature and thinks clearly
To stop me when I rush;
To say that I'm in love--
And speak my mind too much.
I tell her I'm getting closer
To her each and every day.
I whisper "Caitlin" in the night
Hoping that she's there.
The sun rises and I picture
Her smile of bright ivory,
That makes me laugh with joy
And be happy finally.
I wonder what she thinks
About what we have together--
My pretty little Caitlin,
Let this last forever.
