Beautiful

by Tori Hicks   Feb 17, 2010

'Beautiful'.
That's what he called her that night
Before he took away...
Well, everything.
In one swoop,
She lost herself
And was left there lying on the cold, wet ground
An empty shell.
'Beautiful'.
She wants to laugh when she hears it
But she can't.
If she was so beautiful,
Why would someone do this to her?
This beautiful girl is lost now
And replaced by someone she never thought she'd be.
When she looks in the mirror
All she sees is the face
Of a girl torn away from childhood.
The tears of years past have stained her face
And her skinny body is weak.
'Beautiful'.
It's all a lie.
