Gentleman

by Summer   Feb 21, 2010

O ye, nameless gentleman
A finer specimen of man I've ne'er seen!

Sewn up in silk and propriety,
He sounds his mind,
And hangs stars in his eyes-
Such poise has ne'er befriended me!

How long must I stand idle,
Eyes trained on a vision of beauty galore:
Strong at the shoulder, golden of hair,
His mouth dripping diamonds onto the floor?

Begone from me, fruit flies!
False pleasantries are all ye understand!
Swarm instead those with dead eyes and saccharine smiles,
While I wait in earnest for his proffered hand!

O, impassioned for him, I desire it so-
If only the babe with the arrows would wield his bow!
