Double-sided mirror

by Infinite*   Jun 17, 2004

Say what you like for I no longer care,
Say what you heard for I know you weren’t there,

Say that I’m nothing and spit in my face,
Hate me for gender, religion and race,

Tell me I’m wrong and then tell me you’re right,
Bare me your fists as you stand up to fight,

Watch me and smile as the tears fill my eyes
Listen in bliss to the sound of my cries,

Savour the taste of my blood on your tongue,
Feel the sensation of pulling the gun,

Laugh at my family and laugh at my name,
Yet cry as I cause you to suffer the same,

A mirror between us, reflections both sides,
We shout at each other yet also we hide,

Before me your image and mine before you,
The reflections we see of each other aren’t true,

You think that I’m different you think im a freak,
You're using you’re strength on what you see as weak,

You fault what you see for they fail when they try,
To blind to notice the plank in your eye...

Controversial. Great poem though, I like the complexity of each couplet. Very well done.
