Sad-Eyed Girl

by Soulful Ensemble   Feb 25, 2010

Sad-eyed girl mourns
With dark eyes that glare.
Like the moon burns;
She lights a match with her hair.

Sad-eyed girl stares
Through the mist of the damp
In the foggy meadow's air
Through a gloomy lamp.

Sad-eyed girl wont share
Her loving heart with anyone.
She's afraid of the cool stare
That reflects from the sun.

Sad-eyed girl walks in my house
And we look through the moon.
Her hand raises to trace a cloud--
There, flowers seem to bloom.

Sad-eyed girl looks down
Submerging into misery.
I ask her not frown
And come live with me.

Sad-eyed girl becomes a rose
Beneath the rising sun
And dreams about white crows
That freely glide as one.

Sad-eyed girl says she dies,
Listening to Chopin's piano
As I play a sad reprise
Before she must go.

Sad-eyed girl wipes her face
And I see she is alright.
She smiles with grace
Reaching out for the light.
