To Walk Like Jesus

by Ed or Ian Henderson   Feb 27, 2010

I'm sure if I was a few years younger
I could walk like Jesus
Crossing waters to heal the sick,
And relating tales that would nurture the spirit.
I could walk like Jesus.
And the people would doubt me,
Though that would inspire me,
To rally around the truths there for all to see.

Our time is not out own, given freely in a heartbeat.
From the moment cells divide,
A cradled mouth to feed, inside.
Come on and give yourself a much needed slap on the back.
Slip over the veil laid on a sacrificial bed of the future.
With your garlic kiss ready for the vampire moments
That you won't see behind you in mirrors,
Without that touch that lacks class.

And where you find me,
Is walking on the water, feet wet, but smiling.
Glad I'm ailing, softly wailing.
My hands extended to help you along.
I won't urge you to walk like Jesus.
Legends won't spur you on,
Any more than these stepping stones,
That I know I walk upon.
