The Deteriorating Mind

by Beautiful Chaos   Mar 2, 2010

Swept away from all she's known,
Swallowed by the wind,
Floating on this breeze of pain
That time cannot rescind.

Pictures fade and float away,
As age pulls at the mind,
All she loved, a distant call,
Her heart can never find.

Ones she loved no longer here,
Each year feels more dejected,
Now memories are not clear enough,
To make make her feel connected.

Excellent flow and some really interesting vocab, I love the imagery you used when you talk about age pulling at the mind. I'm not even sure if you were trying to do this but it built a crystal clear picture in my head. Which is another great thing about this poem, it's so honest and natural, not at all forced. This is usually the part where I would point out something that I think could be improved upon but for this one I can't. Short and sweet, I love it.
