Cherish even the darkest of wax

by Tripp   Mar 13, 2010

Was I bewitched so by the flame's shine
To beware not that time relinquished its hold
And let the pale mistress snip the silver twine
To steal sweet youth just as it turned to gold.
Existence now is not what I was told;
Existence now is not what I was told

For faces hide as much as they reveal
reality is surely what we touch -
but certainly what we feel!

From raging inferno to candle flame
surely they could not be one in the same?
surely both provide light,
and surely in their absence shadows remain

Milky darkness encroaches
upon the faint glimmering.
Yet it dare not tread where
the candle flame stands shimmering.
For what once was an inferno,
has been merely concentrated to this.
Yet question not the strength
of this flame's bright kiss...

...Wax drips...

Should it caramelize into purest ivory,
or the opposite of this fateful dichotomy?
cherish always your darkest ebony!
for both are precious...
and once lost; beyond recovery

cherish even
the darkest ebony.

I certainly do like the imagery and it is so powerfully written. Some of the words you used I had to look up in the dictionary. =]] Just righteous. 5-5
