You Say Nothing

by Rhiannon   Mar 13, 2010

I creep through the grass softly and slowly
Your headlights pierce the darkness and my heart beats faster and faster
I get into your car and smile at you carefully
I thought this could turn into a disaster

The fog envelops us
We are the only ones in this world
No other car passes us on the road
Not even a second thought keeps us from moving forward

The park is empty, there's only us in the dark
We walk across the wet grass, bracing ourselves
We playfully fight and you catch me off guard
You kiss me and to pull away is so hard.

The bandstand is impossible to see in the fog
We hold hands and stumble through the darkness
You lead me up the stairs and we lay down
You hold me tighter then you have in a long time

We lay next to each other and you hold me close
You whisper sweet things into my ear
After everything we've been through
It’s torture to hear.

The chill creeps in and you try to keep me warm
You pull me in slower so the cold can be chased away
I look into your eyes waiting for what you say
You say nothing.

We go back to your car and turn the heat on
You lean closer to me as my heart skips another beat
I finally found the reason you brought me here
The pains from your lies courses through me like fire

My body trembles as your hands move down
I stay still, my voice can't be found
To be wanted is something I've always yearned
But from him, I never have learned

You've used me for the last time.
I thought this time was different
Everything isn't what it seems
Shake me and wake me up from this dream

You take me home and leave me in the dark
I sneak inside and pull the blankets up.
Disappointment overwhelms me, how can this be true?
All I wanted to hear was, “I love you.”
