Gone

by Tori Hicks   Mar 16, 2010

Like spanning branches, his words entwined
Into an awful, strangling vine.
Slowly sucking the life from her
She knew it was far past over.
All the promises made,
She knew he couldnt keep, even if he wanted to.
She looks around the crumbled walls
Of what was and what might have been.
All the while knowing the future uncertain,
Yet not in her favor.
She prayed with all her heart he would change his mind
And take her into his arms and say,
'I want you, I don't care what it takes!'
But her hopes were in vain.
Up till now, their love was a dream,
And now, she supposed, it was time to wake up.
