Counting On Love

by Larry Chamberlin   Mar 16, 2010

Loving two ways,
Loving three times,
Loving four lives,
Yet love equals one.

I love this woman
In my heart and
With my body:
She's loved two ways.

I loved her then,
I love her now,
I'll love her always:
She's loved three times.

Love of my life,
The love of our life,
Love that bore life:
Keeps her own life.

Heart joins with body,
Constant through all time,
Life at the center:
This one's my only.

What a lovely poem, Larry. I have to say, the first stanza thoroughly intrigued me and it was fascinating to see your explanation for it unfurl throughout the following stanzas. A clever little piece indeed!
    All the very best,

    RE: "This one's my only."
    Around here we say:
    "You're my one.."

This piece is like a braid...
    a beautiful and well-formed,
    embellished with amber beads,
    braid....
    a pleasure to see..
