Tulips

by xxLivxx   Mar 23, 2010

Been too long since I'd seen your pretty face
Too many nights passed with love out of place
Finally now, I can feel you again
My angel, my true love, my only, my friend

Spring is here, and the tulips are bright
For the first time I feel like every thing's right.
They blossom so beautiful, can't help but see
That a tulip fully blossomed, is kinda like you and me

Not so pretty in the beginning, has to grow through the rain,
But it finally bloomed when the sunlight came
We went through some rough times, hurt, and tears
But we grew and we changed, only took a year

But unlike the tulip, that will wither and die
I feel like we'll grow, at least we will try
Because that's what you do when you can't help but love
The one person who fills you, your other half from above

I can't be sure where love will lead us now
I just hope it brings us together...some day...some how.
And if in the end, things just won't let us be
I want you to know you're the only one for me.

I loved this poem as well. The rhyming was great. The message is very special as well. It seems like this is about the person you love and opening up to them. The tulip is a great metaphor. For love has to bloom at first but once it does it becomes a beautiful flower. Very beautiful write!

I like that you have been creative and used a tulip when so many compare love to a rose...it was different. Good flow and rhyming, nicely done.
