When You're Gone

by Dan Bloom   Mar 24, 2010

Today my wallet went missing.
I didn't get scared.
I don't get scared of anything
except whales in the ocean and losing you.
I don't know what I would do if I lost you.
Cry, first, but then what?
Looking for other women would be so disappointing
after that.

It hurts to think what life holds without you.
Alone.
That is never a good word even by choice.
Alone.
That's what I'm afraid of most; being by myself.
Whales in the ocean, losing you, and being alone.

I cry when I'm alone.
