Heart Under Attack

It pounds in my chest
My eyes grow wide
The twitch in my nerves
Won't subside

I try and breath
My throat closes tight
Another long battle
An unending fight

I try to sit still
I try and think less
But all I can hear
Is my pounding chest

My heart's on a rampage
It's under attack
I feel my eyes close
I sink into the black

My breathing slows down
My heartbeat at peace
Another attack over
And my nerves release

They call it anxiety
And it always comes back
Suddenly, without warning
My heart gets attacked.
