When We Were Proud

by RainbowSlider   Mar 30, 2010

When we were proud; You were my friend.
Our love was loud; We would both defend.
There was no shame; Honor was so new.
Still remembering what we went through.

Our love was strong; Built on tender times.
We forgave each other for our past crimes.
We had to learn like all couples have done.
It wasn't always easy but we had some fun.

When I remember you in photos we took
You could ever read me as an open book.
You would stand beside me smiling away.
Fingers interlocked with mine as we play.

We tried so hard to live as a loving thing.
We could share stuff and we could sing.
We had a life together cut short in days.
But when you left me the love still stayed.

I have grown stronger all because of you.
Loving cold winter and hot summer, too.
I think of you and how the days ran by.
I am strong when I wipe my new eyes.
