Rueful Fool

by Talie   Apr 6, 2010

It's such a dirty game you play
(delicately pluck my heart strings
and croon so my soul longs for your tears)
you play my heart with a sinful smile, I'll admit
you had me beguiled. It's truly quite
outrageous, this "game" you call and play it
As all the points go to you, I feel utterly besotted,
though I am also here to keep you in line,
to make sure you don't burn me or pay a fine
but I caught you cheating, and awarded a point to you,
I swear I cannot help myself as I am pronounced
a fool, a rueful and complete fool, who tore
my pretty red heart in two, however, this is it and
nothing more, as I admit I am a fool, but, I am a fool
for your wicked ways, your pretty blue eyes, and
George Clooney smile, and am no more a total fool for you.
