Silent Skies

by xToBeWithYoux   Apr 17, 2010

And all was quiet.

The tear-blue sky silent,
but for the chirping birds,
unaware of the strange situation
at thirty-five thousand feet.

The sun ducks down behind houses,
playing hide and seek with the moon.
Stars shine on, beauty beaming in light rays
onto the hub of life that is our planet.

Thousands of people trapped across the world,
in foreign countries, sunny destinations,
with clear skies wearing disguises.

No one willing to take a chance,
we wait, we wait,
as life slows to a grinding halt
under a blanket of volcanic ash.
