The feel of your warm embrace runs down
The outermost layer of my body
I remember when you held me for hours
In your bed we'd lie, resting from the chaos of the world
Escaping for a moment.
I remember the scent of your skin
And the feel of your breath on my neck
Your warm touches around my waist
The light indentation of fingers pressed against white skin
But it's colder now.
The place in bed where you once lied next to me
Is slowly, emptying
The space reminds me of how you are not here
Until I see your image when I close my eyes
But it's beginning to fade.
You'd whisper that you loved me
And squeeze me tightly against you
The body heat would make us warm
There's no where else we'd rather sleep
But now I'm wide awake.
Waking from a nightmare,
I sit abruptly in bed and look out around me
I am alone now, and the silence
Fills the emptiness of my room and heart.
