Mom -

by Emily   Apr 19, 2010

You have given me a life,
That you burden each day.
You gave the impression,
That it's okay to stray.

But you have given the gene,
That makes me persevere.
You have given me standards,
Out of shame and of fear.

I will not turn out like you.
No, I won't be selfish.
I will care for my children.
My love will be replenished.
