Appreciating the Yeas (collab w/ Jeff Weiner)

by Second to None   Apr 25, 2010

Around in circles it races
Never knowing where to stop,
My mind just keeps going
Wondering when it will drop,

Tied up and twisted
Thoughts all in a mess,
Looking for a reason
to this unnecessary stress,

Life used to be simple
Back when I was a kid,
Just riding bikes and playing
Never caring what we did,

Now I am grown
with my own bills to pay,
Chasing women around
While my conscience gets in the way,

Love is what I seek
my heart is an open book,
Maybe I seem too eager
Thats why they don't take a second look,

Now that I am aging
And ready to settle down,
No one seems in the mood
Their quick judgment leaving me to drown,

I guess I'll have to be patient
If its true love that I seek,
I'll wait for hours or for years
I'll act strong even when I'm weak,

When I was small
We were all so forgiving,
We didn't hate so quickly
And were caring for all who were living,

If we all remember childhood
Perhaps we wouldn't be so cold,
Maybe we'd smile and embrace each other
And forget for a second that we're getting old

There were a lot of different things going on in this poem but they all lead to the fact that while we are kids we love so easily and forgive so quickly and then once were older it's the opposite way around. You two did a good job on this. good job and keep writing.
