Closer Than You Believe

by Poet on the Piano   Apr 26, 2010

I needed to get away
even if just for a moment
the sun's blinding ray
had desiccated my bones,
until I was begging for a taste
of the ocean's melodious tones.
I dreamed my brightest desire
as I far off heard a splash
the rush consumed the fire
and carried me into twilight,
fear was never created here
one could sleep alongside night.
I whistled across waves
for my talented brother
where underwater caves
fed his exploring mind,
he leaped to my fingertip
I left all distractions behind.
I soon was aligned with the moon
stars passing out smiles
I broke out of my cocoon
realizing I could fly,
I may not visit so often
but I'll never say goodbye.
