A Face in the Street

by Of Sweet Insanity   May 5, 2010

Looking out through darkened eyes.
Sun getting low in the naked sky.
I hold my tears with all I've got.
Needing you makes my heart burn hot.

What I wouldn't give to pack my bags.
Hit the road and never look back.
Something clutching my wrists too tight.
Something crazy holding me in this life.

And I'm nothing you'd see, I am nothing.
Passing by another face in the street.
Sincerely I mean it, I loved you best.
And you treated me with the utmost respect.

I'd reach my hand out to hold onto yours.
Together we'd fall through the cracks in the floor.
With our backs to the wall, we would stand tall
As they stared at us with their critique and all.

I love you deeply, that's all I can say.
I doubt it makes sense when I put it that way.
I've given up trying to convince you of this.
Hear these words: I've given in.

I felt like this was a last stand. A final chance for someone to see that this love is worth fighting for. thank you for a beautiful poem
